What is tadmas?

See the main page for the answer to this question.

How often do you update your site? (aka: Why haven't you updated your site in a while?)

I update it when I have something new to add, which is really whenever I feel like it. I've been known to put up several new things in one day, and other times I may go years between updates. If nothing new has appeared in a while and it's really bumming you out, just send me an email and I'll think about it.

How can I send you email?

Take the address of this site, remove the "www" part, then throw my first name and an "@" sign in front, and you've got it.

About Me

Who are you?

My name is David K. Jones, and I'm a software developer with a little too much time on his hands. You've probably seen me on slashdot, USENET, or StackOverflow. Of course, you might also know me in real life, but then I don't really think you'd be asking who I am.

A/S/L? (aka: What do I need to know to stalk you?)

I'd put my age, but I'd forget to update it every year, so that's out. I'll just say that I was born on January 6, 1981, and let you do the math. I currently live in College Station, Texas. Yes, I went to the university here (class of 2003), but I never left after I graduated. How sad is that, huh?

If you want my mailing address or telephone number, it's 1060 West Addison and 979-867-5309, respectively.

Is there a Mrs. David Jones?

I'm a computer geek. You figure it out. I am taking applications, though.... I'm kind of a romantic at heart, so ladies: now's your chance! Grab me up before it's too late!

Are you on myspace?

No, I left Junior High / Middle School a long time ago, and I'm not a pedophile.

I am, however, now on Facebook. I'm not really sure why.

Other Questions

Which is better: emacs or vi?

Duh -- vi, of course! I like my editors like I like my women: mysterious, strong-willed, and a lot of fun when you get to know 'em. However, I must admit: I've recently been using emacs in viper mode. I guess I'm just a promiscuous editor.

What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

A swallow beats its wings 43 times every second, right? What else happens 43 times per second? The rotation of the tires on a race car! So, what is the airspeed velocity of a racecar? Well, a racecar is quite a bit more massive than a swallow, so you can't directly compare them. However, you can look at similar objects and measure how fast they go. A race car is made out of metal. What else is made out of metal? A bicycle! A good racing bike is somewhere around 15 pounds, so it's close enough to the weight of a swallow to get a rough speed estimate.

So, logically, since a swallow oscillates as fast as a race car, it must also be made of metal, so it must move about as fast as a bicycle: 24 miles per hour.
